Birthday Cascading Gatefold Card

My sister recently had a birthday. I wanted to make an unusual card for her special day. I found the perfect card and template on the Mixed Up Craft blog. Of course, I had to CASE the example. This was a time consuming card to make and the instructions were a bit confusing. In the end, I created a beautiful card that conveyed my feelings for my sis. She absolutely loved it!

The card measures a whopping 5″ x 7″ x 1/4″. This card was huge! I sent it to her in an 8×10 mailer. I loved the idea of the cascading gatefold card, although it is simply too big in most circumstances. I redesigned the card measurements so that it would fit neatly into a standard Stampin’ Up! medium envelope. Here is a sneek peak of the smaller 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card:

I’ll be posting the interior view of this card along with measurement templates after Father’s Day. Stay tuned tomorrow for my Father’s Day six-sided pinwheel card. It is so cute, you will love it!

Hand-Penned Birthday Card for Freshly Made Sketches 538

Hi and Happy Sunday! I thought I would give the Freshly Made Sketches challenge another try this week. I was making a sweet birthday card for a family member, and I thought the colors of this card lent themselves beautifully to this challenge.

I used the Hand-penned DSP (now retired) as my color palatte since this card is for a female relative. I wanted to keep this card fresh and clean. I love it!

Pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog and look for the #FMS538 challenge.
