Hello Card

Nature’s Prints Meets Eden’s Garden Hello Card

The layout of my card today was inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketch’s Challenge for the layout. I love to make cards using only one or two colors to give a cohesive monochromatic look. In this card I used Night of Navy and Gray Granite as my base colors and added the slightes pop of Evening Evergreen as an accent. On the card base I stamped in craft white ink and embossed over it with clear embossing powder. I wanted to create a soft effect to tie in the gray granite Sun Prints DSP. Here is the card I made for you today:

I love the angled edge of the DSP and the offset sentiment! I put a Night of Navy angled edge mat under the DSP that I cropped using the basic borders dies to give the card anther element of interest. Here is the sketch layout that inspired my card:

I hope you pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to check out cards made by their design team and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Watercolor Technique

Hi! Do any of you feel like you can’t color outside the lines when using blender pens? That you have to be so careful and make it perfect? I know I do. There are days, I don’t want to be fussy when I color in a design for one of my cards. If you feel the same, then using the watercolor technique is for you! It’s fun, it’s quick, and you don’t have to be quite so fussy. I am not always the greatest at blending colors with blender pens, so watercoloring is a lifesaver for me. It is very forgiving!

I stamped the image using Memento Black ink on regular basic white cardstock. I used the Pale Papaya Stampin’ Write marker to color in the flower centers. Next I colored in the darkest part of the the flower petals closest to the center with So Saffron flowers and the Orchid Oasis. Then, I broke out my trusty water painter. I used So Saffron and Orchid Oasis ink directly from the ink pad onto the brush and blended out to the end of the petals. I filled in the purple flowers with Polished Pink for some soft hightlighting. Then I filled in the leaves using the same steps with the Soft Succulent marker first, and the ink on the brush second.

I gave the card some additional pop with a So Saffron scalloped mat using the Scalloped Contours dies and a background DSP using the now retired Ever Eden. The final touch, I went over the flower centers with some Wink of Stella and added some Opal Rounds. If there are any stamping techniques or card folds that you would like to learn, please leave a commen or drop a line.

Tea Boutique W-Fold Card

Fun, fancy fold cards are a blast! I am hooked on the W-Fold technique. In my last post, I mentioned my next post would be another W-fold card. This time I decided to feature the new Stampin’ Up! 2022-2024 In-Colors as part of my project. So here we go…in-colors, a new product suite, and a fun fold!

I chose the Tea Boutique Suite to show case the beautiful paper options and the dies available in the suite. The bright pops of color are so pretty in a card that is already full of personality. The Tea Boutique Suite is one of my favorites just for it’s versatility alone.

If you would like directions on how to make this cute card, please drop me a line or comment. Blessings and Happy Stamping! Donna

W – Fold Card

I recently learned how to make a W – fold card from a Splitcoast Stampers tutorial by Mary Deatherage, a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. I love the look of the W fold card. The card looks complicated to make, but it actually is not.

I made this card for a friend, I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.

I primarily used items from the Heart & Home Suite Collection in the Jan-June Mini Catalog. I made the tag using the Natural Prints Dies, and the Thinking of You sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. There are a few items that are no longer available since they are retired like the Misty Moonlight cardstock & ink, the I’m praying for you stamp from the Blessings From Heaven stamp set, and the Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels.

My next post will show another W – fold card. I will use basic supplies to show how simple the card can be to make. Although…the card will be anything but basic.

Bottled Happiness & Sun Prints Join to Create a Lovely Angled Tri-Fold Card

Yay!!! The new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog is now available and has so many yummy new things! I was so excited to play with my new goodies that I combined the Bottled Happiness Bundle, #158690, AC p.16 with Sun Prints DSP, #158790, AC p.134, the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, #151595, AC p.29, along with the new Fern 3D embossing folder, #158804, AC p.176 into a sweet thinking of you angled tri-fold card.

I stamped the bottle on the belly band in Pacific Point Ink, punched it out with the Vintage Bottle Punch, added Effervescent Elements, #158789, AC p.143 into the Vintage Bottle Shaker Domes, #158788, AC p.141, and added the White Glittered Organgy Ribbon, #156408, AC p.146 to add a bit of softness.

On the interior of the card, I used the Stitched with whimsy dies, #155314, AC p.175 and a setiment stamp from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.

I can’t wait to post more new samples from the new catalog! Stay tuned for more soon…
