Let’s Chat Jumps into Spring

I know, it’s been awhile. I’ve been posting on Facebook, but not my blog. I really need to change this bad habit. Enough of that!

It’s been warm in Ohio the last few days, which has given me Spring fever. I’ve also been playing with this cute retro stamp set from the lastest mini-catalog called Let’s Chat. This stamp set will tickle anyone’s fancy! I paired it with the Light Than Air DSP to pull in some soft Spring colors. Enjoy!

This card is super easy to make too! The hardest part was fussy cuting the phone out.

Cutting Dimensions:

  • Thick Basic White – Card base – 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, Score at 4-1/4″; & 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ for tag; Extra to stamp phone onto for fussy cutting out
  • Gorgoeous Grape – 4-1/8″ x 5-7/8″
  • Lighter Than Air DSP – 4′ X 5-1/4″
  • Pool Party – 2-1/2″ x 4″ to die-cut frame

I stamped the tag using the Hey and hi stamps, and on the inside I stamped ‘hello’ – all from the Let’s Chat set. I also stamped ‘what’s new’ from the Charming Sentiments stamp set.

I promise my next card will be posted much sooner and on a more consistent basis than this card was.

Hello Softly Stippled Card

Most of you know I love fun fold cards. However, today I bring you a a standard fold card. I think you will love it! I am absolutely loving the sale-a-bration Softly Stippled designer series paper. My last card featured shades of pebbled path with sponged color. This card is lighter and brighter, focusing on Lost Lagoon and Wild Wheat.

This is a super easy card to make and it includes a few unexpected techniques. To give your card that little something, something think of embossing folders and wink of stella. Add a little ribbon and tinsel gems for a finishing touch to create the sweetest hello card.

Donna’s Love at First Stamp Tutorial

    • Lost Lagoon/Wild Wheat Floral – 2-1/2″ x 5-3/4″ – envelope flap

Project Tutorial:

Fold the card base and burnish the fold with a bone folder

Use Stampin’ Cut Emboss Machine (Standard for embossing folder) (Standard or mini for cropping)

  • Wild Wheat DSP place in the Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder so the raised embossed finish will be on the colored side of the DSP and run through the embossing machine
  • Basic White – 2″ x 1-1/2″ crop using the smalled rectangle in the Nested Essentials Dies

Stamp the rectangle using a “C” size clear block with the Hello sentiment (Heartfelt Hellos Cling Stamp Set) in Wild Wheat Classic Ink.

Stamp the basic white CS card interior using a “D” size clear block with the sentiment (Heartfelt Hexagon Photopolymer Stamp Set) – once stamped adhere the 2 pieces of DSP to the top and bottom with the Basic White Cardstock. Then adhere to interior of card

*Hot Tip: Brush Wink of Stella over the embossed Wild Wheat DSP to give the paper a bit of sparkly simmer, then adhere the DSP to the card base card front with your choice of Stampin’ Seal or “green glue” Tombow Multiuse glue

Adhere the 2 pieces of 2-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ Lost Lagoon and Floral DSP together at a mismatched angle. Wrap Lost Lagoon Bordered Ribbon around approximated 1/2 to 2/3 way down paper and tie in a bow on the front. **Hot Tip: Brush Wink of Stella over ribbon and bow to add a little simmer to the ribbon

Adhere the retangle Hello die cut above the bow using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Finish card by embellishing with three Lost Lagoon Tinsel Gems

To give a final finishing punch! Adhere the Wild Wheat/Lost Lagoon Softly Stippled DSP to the envelope flap and fussy cut to fit

Book Binding Fun Fold · Hello Card

Book Binding Fun Fold Card

Even though SALE a-bration is behind us, I can not resist sharing this cute book binding fun fold card made with the Wonderful World DSP. The word stamps are from the Eden’s Garden stamp set and the Flowing Flowers (retired) stamp set.

This is a quick and easy fun fold technique! If fun folds scare you, this is the fold to try. Beginning stampers to the most experienced are able to whip out this card in no time! I used glue to secure the binding and a tape runner to adhere the DSP. The interior flower from the Wonderful World bundle was done by masking off the stem and leaves. I inked up the flower using Rich Razzleberry ink, then sponge daubed Pear Pizzazz onto the leaves/stem. If you would like a tutorial, please let me know and I will post one on tutorial page. Blessings and Happy Stamping! Donna

Hello Card

Nature’s Prints Meets Eden’s Garden Hello Card

The layout of my card today was inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketch’s Challenge for the layout. I love to make cards using only one or two colors to give a cohesive monochromatic look. In this card I used Night of Navy and Gray Granite as my base colors and added the slightes pop of Evening Evergreen as an accent. On the card base I stamped in craft white ink and embossed over it with clear embossing powder. I wanted to create a soft effect to tie in the gray granite Sun Prints DSP. Here is the card I made for you today:

I love the angled edge of the DSP and the offset sentiment! I put a Night of Navy angled edge mat under the DSP that I cropped using the basic borders dies to give the card anther element of interest. Here is the sketch layout that inspired my card:

I hope you pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches blog to check out cards made by their design team and to play along with this week’s challenge.
